CTR Employees Come Together to Showcase Their Hometown In 2011 IPI Trade Show Schendel leads the way, organizing over 100 volunteers When Betty Schendel learned the International Parking Institute 2011 Conference & Expo would be held in CTR System’s backyard, she saw an opportunity that couldn’t be missed. Though organizing a presence at one of the world’s largest parking industry trade shows is hardly in her job description, it was all in a day’s work for Betty. In addition to her duties manning the reception desk and performing key administrative functions for CTR, Betty began coming in early and staying late to ensure that CTR made a great impression on visitors who would be experiencing our region for the first time at the IPI show. “Betty‘s positive attitude has made her a terrific asset to CTR over the past several years,” said Mark Pitchford, Vice President of Sales and a principal owner of CTR. “She tackled the extra duties for IPI show with the same enthusiasm and dedication she gives to her job every day. The result was a trickle-down effect through our staff. She created excitement and exposure for CTR that our employees thoroughly embraced.” From a temporary administrative position to accounting to receptionist to administrative assistant to the executives, Betty’s workload has certainly expanded over the past five years she has been with the company. Betty coordinated the Host Committee’s 102 volunteers from CTR, Pittsburgh Parking Authority and Carnegie Mellon University, scheduling workers to man a welcome booth at Pittsburgh International Airport and the Host Committee and Registration booths at David L. Lawrence Convention Center May 22-25 and arranging for a crew to assist 700 guests during an outing to a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game on May 24. She also led a core group of CTR employees in organizing the conference’s parking tours, which were attended by more than 300 people. CTR’s John Dolansky, East Coast parking sales and project management, and Dale Bercini, field service technician, led the conference’s Special Events/Stadium parking tour, featuring stops at parking venues serving PNC Park, Heinz Field and Consol Energy Center. Christopher Speers from the Pittsburgh Parking Authority joined CTR Regional Sales Manager and Principal David Duffy in leading a Downtown parking tour highlighting the City’s Grant Street Transportation Center, First Avenue Garage and Station Square. CTR vice presidents Denny Russo and Pitchford along with Dave Paga of Grant Oliver Corporation served as guides for a tour of the parking facilities at Pittsburgh International Airport. The CTR crew collected donations for gift baskets and assembled five unique
door prizes, “Betty and our team worked on the weekends, ran errands, and did whatever they could to help IPI staff present the best possible show,” said David Duffy. “They truly exhibited CTR’s FRESH values through their service, and we are extremely proud of their efforts.” Read the release about the International Parking Institute 2011 Conference & Expo.
